  1. Your forsythia will be in flower in a few weeks or even days so I would wait until it has finished flowering to move it. Autumn may be even better. You can also take a cutting to root now for planting in autumn in case the move fails.

  2. Having been given some everlasting sweatpea seed pods and have no idea how and in what soil and temperature conditions they should be planted.
    Please can you help?
    Regards Norman

  3. I have an olive tree in my garden which up until now has been thriving. However after the cold weather we had in December every leaf dropped off within a couple of days. Is there any hope for it to recover.

  4. I do not know how the Olive will perform if at all this spring. I would give it until mid-year and if there is no growth turf it out. Meanwhile it is back to the bottled Olive Oil

  6. !2 plants in 12 holes is a heck of a lot? 5 plants in the top will only get 7 sq inches each

  8. I would like to grow a climbing plant around my front door but can only have pots. Have you any recommendations?

  9. Many Clematis can be grown in pots but do not like hot dry roots so put the pot in the shade.

  10. iv never had a garden before, we have put new turf down, and id like to know what is the best and the easiest flowers to plant now… thank you

  11. There are thousands of choices and it all depends. Remember; it can still be frosty, plants flowering now may soon finish, exotic plants will be harder to grow than out national favourites, annuals will flower once, evergreens will give you interest for along time and trees and shrubs can out grow the space.
For one plant I would opt for a Rose although a Rhododendron would be a close second choice.

  12. i put my vegetable seedlings outside yesterday for a couple of hours and now they have all wilted. What can i do?

  13. The summer before last I planted some Skimmia Japonica Obsession bushes in my garden. The plants are thriving, but when they flower, the flower buds are weak and soon drop off. Any berries that do grow also soon drop off the bush. What is wrong?

  14. I bought a Chrysanthenum frutescens can you please tell me if this is frost hardy?

  15. Hi,
I was just wondering if you could give me some advice about my sunflower… the top most flower has just about died, but the rest of the flowers are doing very well. What do I do with the top flower – it’s the biggest and it’s just starting to weigh the rest of the plant down!
    Thank you very much!
    Jo

  16. This is very early flowering. Normally the droopy buds get a stiffer neck as the flowers open in the sun.

  17. I have a conference pear two year old. Had a few blossoms this year which set. The leaves although a nice green have black tips and edges on the eastern side and the set fruit has disappered. I am on the Coast at Greatstone, Romney Marsh. Any thoughts on the cause please – regards William
