These Tulips are named ‘Shirley’ and have an appropriate airy feel.

Tomato Shirley has a sobriquet F1 and is one of the well named best performers.

A white Peony has been named after Shirley Temple and is available from Jersey Plants
The Rhododendron Shirley a ‘Yak’ hybrid is dark red with markings.

The Americans have patented a red geranium with the name of Shirley

Shirley Poppies also spring readily to mind.

I thought ‘shirley’ there will be a Rose named after a Shirley but so far I have been unable to find one. Let me know what is missing

  1. I am trying to find the above named yak Rhododendron SHIRLEY in memory of a dear friend who recently passed away. Cannot find a rose either, PLEASE can you tell me a stockist or where I could find one. I so much want to get one in her memory. Thank you diane wheaton

  2. I am unable to find one either. I would be tempted to ‘rechristen’ a Yak or call it aka ‘Special Shirley’. You could also surround it with shirley poppies or settle for a Shirley Tomato sandwich every summer.

  3. I too, am looking for a flower to plant in memory of my dear friend, Shirley, who died this year, far too young, and I felt sure there must be a rose named Shirley, but can’t find one.

    Where can I find the other plants named Shirley?

  4. Shirley poppies are bright and cheerful. The seeds are available from most garden centres and have the added bonus that they will self seed and stay in the ground for years popping up when they are exposed to light.
    I can’t find a Rose or Rhododendron either but what is in a name? You can rechristen any plant and call it the ‘Shirley Special’. If you choose that route I would go for a small long lived tree or even a dwarf conifer.

  5. I am searching for a Shirley Plant or Rose as my Sister in Law passed away suddenly aged 57. I just need something other than flowers for my ex mother in law to plant for her daughter. Can anybody help me please?

  6. Me too I recently lost my sister in law Shirley she was far too young. Her mum and her are both named Shirley and I really wanted a beautiful rose or flower for her mum to have in memorial for her daughter.
