On hot days, it may be necessary to water twice a day.<\/li>\n<li>Make use of water retaining capsules which help to reduce amount of watering needed.<\/li>\n<li>Leave a gap at top of hanging basket between liner and level of compost, this makes it easier for water to seep into compost rather than drain straight off basket onto floor.<\/li>\n<li>After watering, test the compost with your finger, make sure the water has drained into the bottom of the basket, sometimes, it can drain away without making it wet. After a while you will get a feel for how much you need to water.<\/li>\n<li>As the flowering season progresses added a liquid feed or time release capsules which will provide necessary food for plants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Watering Hanging Baskets on Holiday<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you go away for a few weeks, you will need to prepare a plan. If you have many hanging baskets, it is advisable to take them down and place in one sheltered spot. This makes it easier for a friend to pop round and water them.
