Not only that but they can cause other damage to plants and young trees. So in general I am disapproving of rabbits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptoms of Rabbit Damage<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Rabbits feed on a wide range of vegetables and ornamental plants grazing them close to the ground. My Muscari bulb shoots provided a tasty spring snack.<\/li>\n<li> All they leave are short sprouts that may or may not grow back (to provide the rabbits with a second helping)<\/li>\n<li> Even rose shoots have been gnawed away on my neighbours prize shrubs.<\/li>\n<li> The bark of young trees is often gnawed to sharpen the teeth of the pesky rabbits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Control of Rabbits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Erect a Rabbit proof fence all around the garden of 1&#8243; wire mesh. It needs to be 4 feet high and 12&#8243; buried below ground to stop Colditz style break ins over or under.<\/li>\n<li> Use an animal repellent like Renadine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Growing-Success-Wild-Animal-Repellent\/dp\/B001DYRZIW\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&#038;s=garden&#038;qid=1274603225&#038;sr=8-1\">or Wild Animal repellent<\/a><\/li>\n<li> Get a Jack Russel  or other suitable dog.<\/li>\n<li>Move home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Some Rabbit Resistant Plants<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Alchemilla mollis or Aquilegia<\/li>\n<li> Bergenia or Foxglove<\/li>\n<li> Clematis or Euphorbia<\/li>\n<li> Dahlia and Peaony<\/li>\n<li> Primula and some Hemerocallis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hungry Rabbits seem to eat virtually anything and I am not keen to satisfy their appetite.
