Careful selection of varieties will produce great spring colour in addition to your Autumn blaze of glory.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"leaves \" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4622548994\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"acer flamingo\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3348\/4622548994_9d6217ef13.jpg\" alt=\"leaves\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Select the varieties that are classified as shrubs. &#8216;Japanese Maple&#8217; Acer japonicum and palmatum will give you the desired results.<\/p>\n<p>Other Acers like Field maple, Sycamore, Red or Silver Maple are all medium to large trees 50&#8242; plus.<\/p>\n<p>Paper bark <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/trees-and-shrubs\/decorative-bark\/\">maple<\/a> and Snake bark maple have interesting bark and grow to be small trees 15-25 feet tall.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"leaves \" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4622554664\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4053\/4622554664_c9b60f337f.jpg\" alt=\"leaves\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Acer japonicum Vitifolium is one of my favourites not shown here. It has salmon coloured fan shaped\u00c2\u00a0 leaves that turn red in Autumn. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The name of the Acer variety may give you clues about the colour or habit.
