{"id":7442,"date":"2010-05-20T01:28:01","date_gmt":"2010-05-20T08:28:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/?p=7442"},"modified":"2010-05-20T13:23:57","modified_gmt":"2010-05-20T20:23:57","slug":"movement-in-your-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/gardening\/tips\/movement-in-your-garden\/","title":{"rendered":"Movement in Your Garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Smokey May Day\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4622112067\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4009\/4622112067_b7f08c9681.jpg\" alt=\"095\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The day was still and the only movement was the lazy (none PC) smoke drifting from a brushwood fire but it made me think of movement in my garden.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nNatural Movement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Grasses have grown in popularity with prairie planting creating drifts of fine plumes of seed heads wafting in the breeze.<\/li>\n<li> Fine leaves, particularly the well coloured Acers, are one of my favourites.<\/li>\n<li> The fast running and gurgling stream provides stimulation to several senses at the same time.<\/li>\n<li> Tall thin plants like bamboo are grown for their ability to move in a breeze. Verbena bonariensis and tall back of the border plants are also useful<\/li>\n<li>Visiting birds and insects are great for movement. Make sure your garden attracts them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Leaves on the breeze\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4622084199\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4069\/4622084199_365db40e33.jpg\" alt=\"074\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Man-made Movement<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Water features are one of the most common creative movements in a modern garden.<\/li>\n<li> Older gardens often feature a statuesque fountain. Water movements even ripples in a pond are very attractive.<\/li>\n<li> Windmills and wind chime sculptures may be appropriate for some gardens but are a bit brash for my taste.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Fountain in Mary Livingston Ripley Garden Mr T in DC creative commons\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3629\/4036383482_e77425e03a_d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"357\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I think I will start a new Movement, &#8216;the Garden Movement movement&#8217;.
