By varying plants and grass shapes in your landscapes you can create a lively scene.<br \/>\nThere is no end to the combinations you could select but below is one option.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Simple Contrasting Foliage<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Miscanthus sinesis<\/strong> Graziella is a vigorous <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/tips\/ornamental-grass\/\">ornamental<\/a>, clump forming grass with bold narrow leaves that grow to 4 feet high. It is well behaved and will not spread and has showy white flowers at the end of the season.<br \/>\nVariegated foliage can add a new visual dimension and the white striped leaves of Gardeners Garters <strong>Phalaris<\/strong> arundinacea Picta has floppy to arching leaves that can be stricking. It is a bit of a thug spreading rapidly in damp soil but you can plant it in a buried pot.<br \/>\nThe <strong>Solenostemon<\/strong> family of <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/coleus-top-ten\/\">Coleus<\/a> have a wide range of colours often on the same soft leaf.<br \/>\nFor mobile grass try <strong>Pennisetum alopecurides<\/strong> the Fountain Grass with seed heads that can reach 3 feet high.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4109472392\/\" title=\"Wheat grass by brianpettinger, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2732\/4109472392_c67d7c67ae.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Wheat grass\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Artemesia stelleriana<\/strong> has silver-grey leaves through out the year.<\/p>\n<p>In this selection I have avoided plants grown primarily for their flowers.
