I have already got ‘Rocket’ growing in pots in an area that I hope wont catch the frost and they should be ready in 10-12 weeks as the name implies.

Stroma
Stroma a second early, gives a good yield of attractive red skinned tubers. It has good resistance to common and powdery scab, and worthwhile resistance to blight. Flesh is waxy and yellow.

Dunluca
Tuber characteristics are a smoothness of cream skin on an oval tuber. The flesh is light yellow. It is a first early potato that is sweet and well appreciated.

Harmony
Harmony is ideally suited to the UK giving very high yields of bold bright tubers as a main crop. It has excellent storage characteristics with long natural dormancy and resistance to black dot and silver scurf. Grand for Baking.

Pentland Javelin
First early, high yielding potato with a tendency to bulk late. High resistance to potato virus and good resistance to common scab, damage and bruising. Firm cooked texture and good boiling quality useful as a salad potato.

Rocket
Produces extremely early yield of firm, waxy texture tubers. Particularly suited to green top lifting and responds well under polythene. Yields best under long day length conditions of Northern Europe

Ratte
I have tried to buy these waxy salad potatoes for a couple of seasons and failed to find them. I must leave no stone unturned next year. Pink Fir Apple are an alternative salad potato but they are a pain to peel so leave the skin on

Recommended Links

Potato Council
Allotment growing Potatoes
Love Potatoes
How to grow early Potatoes
International Potato Center

Potato Exhibitor Growing Bags

from Thompson Morgan.

Selection of Early Potatoes at Thompson and Morgan

Photo credit Seed Potato by Mathias Karlsson Permission=“Own work, copyleft.
