Pollen and strong scent often combine together and beware of allergic reactions to your garden plants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/daisy-daises\/attachment\/leucuth-daisy\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4369\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4369\" title=\"leucanthemum-daisy\" src=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/leucuth-daisy.jpg\" alt=\"leucanthemum-daisy\" width=\"336\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/leucuth-daisy.jpg 336w, https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/leucuth-daisy-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Plants to be Wary Of<\/h3>\n<p>Asthma sufferers often complain that it is the scented garden plants that bring out the condition.<br \/>\nGenerally it is the heavily fragrant flowers but sometimes it is a single species such as Honeysuckle that cause the problem.<br \/>\nLilies like the Lilium Regale are one of the best scented flowers but one of the worst culprits for allergies.<br \/>\nThe Dianthus family of Carnations, Sweet Williams and Pinks with a spicy scent are known to bring on hay fever.<br \/>\nAlthough generally unscented, many flowers from the Asteraceae or Daisy family seem to be allergenically toxic to many people. If you suffer then it is best to exclude members of this large family including Asters, Chrysanthemums, Marigolds and other similar looking flowers.<br \/>\nAvoid ornamental grasses heavy in pollen.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Carnation by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/3942349436\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2581\/3942349436_95bbe3e688_m.jpg\" alt=\"Carnation\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Top Low Allergy Flowers <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aromatic plants which smell due to essential oils are less likely to cause some allergies but if you are very sensitive it is best to avoid Herbs, Lavender and Eucalyptus. Or at least do not inhale bruised leaves.<\/li>\n<li>Winter heather Erica Carnea in white and pink can look stunning from Autumn through winter.<\/li>\n<li>Geraniums such as the perennial cranesbill, Johnsons Blue is my favourite.<\/li>\n<li>Climbing roses can be a problem but Iceberg has a low level of scent and I have seen Handel and Rambling Rector also recommended.<\/li>\n<li>Fuchsia magellanica are available in many varieties<\/li>\n<li>Hydrangea macrophylla including cultivars\u00c2\u00a0 Ayesha, and Madame Emille Mouillere plus Lacecap varieties give you a wide choice of large flowerheads.<\/li>\n<li>Orchids as houseplants have cause allergic reaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Hydrangea by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/3926934022\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2511\/3926934022_2e543d81e1_m.jpg\" alt=\"Todmorden 055\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.awin1.com\/cread.php?awinmid=2283&amp;awinaffid=81944&amp;clickref=&amp;p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thompson-morgan.com\/plants1\/search.html?section=all&amp;search=allergic&amp;asug=\">Allergic advice from Thompson Morgan <\/a><br \/>\nIf you have hay fever, asthma or severe allergies, you should avoid eating flowers of the daisy family because they could trigger an allergic reaction.
