Early flowering varieties may be susceptible to frost. This can be avoided by protecting flowers with fleece on late spring frosts. With global warming,\u00c2\u00a0 late frosts may reduce in severity but do not hold your breath.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<a title=\"Magnolia 11 \" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/5592375854\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5223\/5592375854_5f731fc453.jpg\" alt=\"Magnolia 11\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The light green leaves of this magnolia will turn deeper green and more leathery as the summer moves on.
