As the day gets later or if it is cloudy and dark the petals close up again. Often these flowers attracted by the Sun are the most colourful and bright plants like Livingstone Daisies also called Mesembryanthemum (what a mouthful).<\/p>\n<p>Helianthemum are called the &#8216;Sun Rose&#8217; because they flower with brilliant colours during the height of the sun. Traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/titan-ic-sunflower-biggest-sunflowers\/\">Sunflowers<\/a> with big yellow heads of flower and a dark centre do not close up at night but the head follows the sun moving during the day from facing East in the morning to facing West in the evening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/gazania-goes-in-here\/attachment\/gazinia\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-475\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/gazinia.jpg\" alt=\"Gazinia\" title=\"gazinia\" width=\"410\" height=\"336\" class=\"size-full wp-image-475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/gazinia.jpg 410w, https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/gazinia-300x245.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These strippy flowers from Africa are called Gazinia and flower through summer. Also called The Treasure Flower they have  silvery-white leaves which makes the plant a pleasure to see, even out of flower.
