Many varieties are derivatives of Geranium sanguineum or Geranium cinereum. They all have seed heads that look hooked like a Crane&#8217;s bill hence the common name.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nG. Johnsons Blue pictured is a strain of G. pratense and is a strong growing, self spreading plant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/7266506432\/\" title=\"Newby Hall Geranium by brianpettinger, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7080\/7266506432_f11b302f77.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Newby Hall Geranium\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A pink geranium G. sanguenium is commonly found in many cottage gardens with it profuse pink flowers that have two flushes if cut back after the initial show. G Anna Folkard has a trailing habit and needs some control in my garden.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Menston geranium by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/7745185456\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8287\/7745185456_6f0cb2925c.jpg\" alt=\"Menston geranium\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Along with Johnsons Blue and Anna Folkard, Kashmir White has an Award of Garden Merit but I recommend you see\u00c2\u00a0 plants in flower if you are looking to acquire it for a special colour or habit so that you make sure you are getting a good base stock that is worth the AGM.<\/p>\n<p>The black Mourning Widow G. Phaeum like shade and self seeds profusely.
