Take the plunge and bury your bulb pots to encourage strong root growth. Next year is the key- at least gardeners usually get another chance to fail!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"daffodil by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4347269390\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4024\/4347269390_318370deb4.jpg\" alt=\"daffodil\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you grow daffodils in pots you will get better results if you &#8216;Plunge Pots&#8217; in soil or peat after potting.<br \/>\nDaffodil bulbs do not like to be frozen so you need to plunge or bury the pot at least 2 and preferably 4 inches deep.<br \/>\nLeave them covered for 16-18 weeks.<br \/>\nFeed with high potash feed every week during and after flowering to build up the bulbs for next season.<br \/>\nDo not cut the leaves but when they have died back gently pull them from the base.<br \/>\ngravel in the above photo is used to aid watering and the grit on top of the pot improves the appearance, prevents moss and lichen<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Daffodil selection by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4437940322\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4029\/4437940322_976e2b9209.jpg\" alt=\"Daffodil selection\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Take the plunge and bury your bulb pots. This evens out the ground\/compost temperature for the bulbs to grow good roots and develop in a natural manner.<br \/>\nMiniature daffodil bulbs like this treatment.<br \/>\nIf you want to regrow the bulbs next year give them a bit more room and plenty of root depth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Take the plunge and bury your bulb pots.
