Sow anywhere that is close enough to the house to get the benefit of such a beautiful fragrance. Below windows, patio tubs, window boxes, even a small sowing in hanging baskets.<br \/>\nTry mixing with Virginian Stock before sowing to provide a mixture of attractive flower and fragrance. These annuals flower in summer 12in high.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13680\" title=\"10 Week  Stock\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Brompton-Stock.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"362\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;Ten Week Stock Mixed&#8217; Matthiola incana, Gillyflower<\/h3>\n<p>A hardy annual that is very fragrant and available in muted colours that make excellent garden varieties.<br \/>\nThe flowering period is May, June, July, August from seeds sown in March, April.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Matthiola incana by douneika, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/81918877@N00\/5634773412\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Matthiola incana\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5109\/5634773412_ca1e3f6351.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;Dwarf Mixed&#8217; Brompton Stock<\/h3>\n<p>This is a hardy biennial sown in June or July in a cold frame or well ventilated cold greenhouse, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Prick out into boxes or pots or direct into the cold frame 6in apart, and overwinter providing good ventilation.<br \/>\nHarden off and plant out in the spring at 12-15in apart. In mild districts on well drained soil the plants can be transferred to their flowering positions in early autumn.<br \/>\nUpright bushy often double flowers producing gloriously scent in a good colour range.
