Now as Autumn approaches the slugs and snails are making a meal of the soft juicy leaves that are starting to give up the ghost.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Slug Food by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/3785354129\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2644\/3785354129_ea46b8c4b4.jpg\" alt=\"Slug Food\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Looking back at earlier photos I realised that the slug damage started along with the flowers but the effect was pleasing enough not to use chemical or <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/gardening\/pests-problems\/biological-pest-control-pros-and-cons\/\">biological control<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Hosta flower slugged by brianpettinger, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/3734439725\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2464\/3734439725_ff0314d88d.jpg\" alt=\"Hosta flower slugged\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am not going to start <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/gardening\/pests-problems\/slug-and-snail-tips\/\">dealing with the slugs and snails <\/a>at this time of the year.<br \/>\nThe Hosta leaves will die back anyway and the slugs can provide a tasty snack for the hedgehogs before they hibernate.<br \/>\nThe frogs are also still active and with a new pond for them to populate with frogspawn next spring they can feed themselves up as well.<\/p>\n<p>The last Hosta picture should feature with my <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/gardening\/design\/blue-leaved-plants\/\">blue leaved plants<\/a>.
