These are the famous <strong>&#8216;Glove Flowers&#8217;<\/strong> yes you guessed it they are Marigolds. African Marigolds to be accurate with flower heads 4&#8243; across.<\/p>\n<p>If you were thinking of prickly plants that need gloves I am sorry no one<strong> Rose<\/strong> to the occasion.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Foxglove \" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/5836559371\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3102\/5836559371_13359ed85a.jpg\" alt=\"Foxglove\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Foxes do not were <strong>gloves<\/strong> and I do not know how they got their name but this healthy Foxglove has distinctive spots on the white tubular flowers.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Yellow Foxglove \" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/3797795159\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3550\/3797795159_a5750cd739.jpg\" alt=\"Yellow Foxglove\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am trying to remember the name of this perennial Foxglove species. The flowers are smaller than other foxgloves but the plant has been a reliable &#8216;doer&#8217; for me for many years.<br \/>\nThey are not called ladies Fingers that is the vegetable<a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/vegetables-herbs\/growing-okra-or-ladies-fingers\/\"> Okra.<\/a><br \/>\nThat gave me time to remember that <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/flowers\/yellow-foxgloves-digitalis-lutea\/\">Digitalis lutea<\/a> is the 3 feet high foxglove that flowers creamy yellow on one side of the stem.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Marsh Marigold Caltha palustris on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hortoris\/4541610066\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4008\/4541610066_e251c83e99.jpg\" alt=\"Marsh Marigold Caltha palustris\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Back to the <strong>rubber gloves<\/strong> of Marigold fame. This time they are <a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerstips.co.uk\/blog\/gardening\/growing-easy-plants\/tips-for-growing-water-loving-marsh-marigolds\/\">Marsh Marigolds<\/a> but as tempest fugit and time marshes on that is all for today <em>(thank goodness ed). <\/em>As the name implies these little rascals love water but try to do it without unzipping your pants.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some fun photos that appeal to my sense of humour.
